Improve sport-specific quickness, acceleration, and speed. Learn to move, react, and change directions as fast as possible.

Get Faster, Quicker, and More Explosive

Speed, agility, and quickness depend on three things: 1) how much force you can put into the ground, 2) how quickly you can generate it, and 3) how efficiently you can use it (technique and body control). Our programs emphasize the progressive development of each of these factors.

FAQ

1. What is speed and agility training?

Speed and Agility classes focus on improving sport-specific agility, acceleration and speed. The goal is to help you move faster, react quicker, and learn how to control your body and change directions instantaneously.

2. What do you work on?

We use a variety of drills and exercises to properly target and develop the needed strength, power, and technique. We focus on acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, body control, running form, general and specific strength, power and explosiveness.

3. Can I combine this with Vertical Jump Training?

It is best not to combine Speed and Agility classes with Vertical Jump Training or other heavy lower body workouts. If you wish to improve your speed/agility as well as jumping and raw strength contact us and we can discuss the best way to achieve your goals. In this case one of our sports performance classes, which combine all aspects of athleticism, will probably be the best option.

4. What age groups/levels is this for?

Athletes of any age can work to improve speed and agility, although how this is done will differ significantly for older and younger athletes due to the way the body develops from pre-adolescence through adolescence into adulthood. Our Speed and Agility classes are most appropriate for 6th grade and up, while we offer Youth Athletic Training for 1st-5th graders.

5. How many times a week should I train?

It depends on your goals, experience level and time of year (in-season or off-season), but 2-3 times per week is optimal for most athletes. If you are doing a lot of other training (team practices, weight lifting, etc.) we will need to make sure you are structuring everything properly to maximize your gains and avoid overtraining.

6. What sports is this for?

Speed and Agility is important for every sport, although the nature of the movements that must be trained will vary significantly. We begin with basic training applicable to every sport, then as the athlete progresses we tailor the training more and more to specific needs.

7. Who are the trainers/coaches?

The head trainer is Brandon Wolfram. Brandon is a Certified Speed and Agility Specialist with the IYCA, as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA. He played basketball at UTEP and professionally in Europe, now he works with athletes of all ages and specializes in skill development, shooting, and sports performance.
